A Safe Place Childcare Center of Decatur was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children of all abilities. Inspired by Milo, a nonverbal child with autism, our center was built on a deep understanding of the challenges families face when seeking compassionate, trustworthy care.

Milo’s journey revealed the importance of patience, individualized support, and environments where children feel truly understood. Like many children on the spectrum, he thrives when given the right care—something every child deserves.

At A Safe Place, we are committed to helping children feel valued, supported, and confident. We foster emotional growth, learning, and meaningful connections in a warm, accepting space where every child is encouraged to grow at their own pace—and truly belong.

Tracey founded the center with a mission to create the kind of nurturing, supportive childcare environment every family deserves. Inspired by her grandson Milo’s early challenges, she understands how a warm, intentional, early learning space could transform not just a child’s early years, but an entire family’s life.

With experience in child development and family support, Tracey helped build A Safe Place from the ground up and carefully selected a team that shares her conviction, that childcare is more than a service- its a calling.
